Danger comes from wanting, fear, and from being ambitiously goal-oriented instead of perserveringly path-oriented. We abandon the slow, step-by-step work that creates enduring change.

BEN MIKIC FOUNDATION FOR YOUNG CYCLISTS

On April 27th 2007, Ben Mikic, a talented 15 year old racing cyclist from Mittagong, NSW, was tragically killed in a collision with a car during a training ride three days after he had been selected to join the elite young rider’s team at the Illawarra Academy of Sport. Ben had proved himself as a gifted athlete in Road and Mountain Bike Racing.

Ben's life goal, like many teenage cyclists was to ride in The Tour de France. Unfortunately, his gifted athletic ability was not enough to keep him safe on the road.

With the passing of a loved one a gap in each heart remains. Through the sorrow and tears only memories can try to fill what is now missing. Remembering the times of joy, times of happiness, times of achievement and times of pain we pushed through together, these can only touch on what is now gone.

Our hearts go out to the beloved family and Niki the precious girl who captured the heart of our loving friend.

Rest in peace James Williamson. Your memories and your inspiration to all those around you will never be forgotten, your warmth will burn deep in our hearts forever.

James Williamson passed away in South Africa while racing at Cape Epic.
